Virgin Plus Refer-a-Friend Program Rules

  • What is the Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend Program?

    When you Refer-A-Friend to Virgin Plus, you and your friend can each get $25 in bill credits ($5 bill credit per month for 5 months) if you both meet all of the eligibility requirements for the Refer-A-Friend Program.

    The Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend program is fully online. All registrations for the program must occur online through the referral system. Status checks for existing referrals are available online through the referral dashboard and through email notifications. Call centre agents and sales reps are not able to check the eligibility or status of a pending referral.

  • Who qualifies for the Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend Program?

    As the person making the referral: You must be an existing Virgin Plus Member on an eligible 2-year or BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) mobile phone plan or Internet plan (Internet referrals are available in Ontario and Quebec only). Your account must be in good standing for 30 days after the referral is complete and must remain open, active, and eligible. Heads up: you cannot register for the Virgin Plus Refer-a-Friend program on the same day you activate with us.

    As the person being referred: You must become a new Virgin Plus Member activating a new Virgin Plus mobile number on an in-market Value 2-year or BYOP mobile phone plan or activating a new Internet plan (Internet referrals are available in Ontario and Quebec only). Your account must be in good standing for 30 days after the referral is complete and must remain open, active, and eligible. The referral credit is not available for referring existing Members.

    Plans with 3G data, the 2GB plan at $37.50/mo., the 4GB plan at $41.25/mo., and the 6GB plan at $45/mo. (subject to availability) are not eligible for this program.

    Prepaid, Tablet and Home Phone plans and activations are not eligible for this referral program.

    Virgin Plus employees (including former employees receiving an employee rebate on their account or third‐party employees who sell Virgin Plus products and services) are not eligible for this program.

  • How much is the referral bill credit?

    $25 for you and $25 for your friend. Once both of you complete the referral and are confirmed as eligible, the bill credits will be applied in installments of $5 per month over 5 months, as long as the accounts remain open, active and eligible during that time.

    The referral bill credit value may vary by province. Virgin Plus reserves the right to adjust the credit amount applied to your bill if the province you selected prior to sending a referral differs from the province of your billing address.

  • Does the Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend Program have an end date?

    Virgin Plus may end the Program or change any of the terms and conditions of the Program at any time, without notice and without obligation to award any referral credits.

  • How long will it take to confirm my referral?

    Because both you and your friend must remain active and in good standing for 30 days after the referral is complete, no eligibility checks or confirmations will take place for at least 30 days after the referral has been submitted.

    Until then, all referrals will be noted as “Pending” in your dashboard.

  • I currently receive another offer on my account; will I be eligible for the Refer-a-Friend offer?

    Yes, so long as you meet the eligibility requirements for the Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend program.

  • Do referrals expire?

    Yes. Referral emails and social media invitations are valid for 45 days.

Rules for Members who want to make referrals

  • Who can I refer?

    You can refer friends. Friends are anyone with whom you have either a friend or family relationship. Friends include anyone related through marriage, common-law or individuals who are related as a parent and child and anyone who you have had direct, voluntary two-way communications with in the past 18 months.

    You cannot refer a new line to your own account and receive a referral credit. Other subscribers on the account can refer their friends to a new Virgin Plus account.

  • Can I refer someone who wants to bring their own phone to Virgin Plus?

    Yes, the person you refer can either buy a phone from Virgin Plus or bring their own.

  • How do I Refer-A-Friend?

    To refer friends, you must register a Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend account at virginplus.ca/refer using an active Virgin Plus mobile number, or Virgin Plus number if you are an internet Member (limit of one Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend account per Virgin Plus mobile number/Virgin Plus number and email address).

    After registration, you will receive an email with a unique link, which can be shared with your friend for redemption. If you misplace the email, this unique link can also be found anytime in your personal dashboard online after registering at virginplus.ca/refer.

  • Where can I find my Virgin Plus number?

    You can find your Virgin Plus number on the upper left portion of your Virgin Plus internet bill beginning with 999. You can also find it under Account Info in the Welcome email you were sent when you signed up to be a Virgin Plus Member.

  • How many friends can I refer?

    You can refer multiple friends, however, you’ll receive a maximum of $150 in credits (or 6 referral rewards) while the offer is available in market. You can have up to 6 bill credits on your account. Once a credit expires, you are eligible for additional credits to a maximum of 6 total credits on your bill. Your referral credits in any given month cannot exceed the monthly service fee for your mobile phone or Internet plan (minus any applicable credit or promotional discount, if any, and exclusive of taxes).

  • How can I check the status of my referral and credit?

    Once a referral has been redeemed by your friend, you can track the status in your dashboard by re-visiting virginplus.ca/refer on the same device and browser you registered with, or by clicking the dashboard link in your referral registration confirmation email.

    Once your friend’s eligibility has been confirmed, the referral will be noted as “Successful” in your dashboard. Once your eligibility is confirmed, we’ll send you an email to let you know and you will receive the first installment of your credit on your bill within 2-3 billing cycles.

    If your referral did not meet eligibility requirements, it will be noted as “unsuccessful” in your dashboard.

  • When will my offer be applied to my account?

    Your friend must accept the Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend offer within 45 days of receiving the referral, become a new Virgin Plus customer on an in-market Value 2-year or BYOP mobile phone plan, or internet plan, and submit the new Virgin Plus phone number/Virgin Plus number at virginplus.ca/refer within 7 days of activating their service.

    Upon confirmation of eligibility, the first installment of the referral credit will be applied to both Virgin Plus bills within 2-3 billing cycles.

Rules for friends who are referred to Virgin Plus

  • How do I redeem the referral?

    Using the unique link shared by your friend, redeem the offer (by entering your name and email address into the referral system) before you activate your service with Virgin Plus.

    Then, within 45 days of unlocking your offer, buy a phone or SIM card and activate on an in-market Value 2-year or BYOP mobile phone plan, Or activate an in-market Virgin Plus internet plan (internet referrals available in Ontario and Quebec only).

    After activation, you need to come back to the referral system and provide your new and active Virgin Plus phone number within 7 days.

    In 1-2 billing cycles, if all eligibility conditions are met, Virgin Plus will apply the first $5 bill credit to your account and to the account of the person who referred you. The subsequent $5 installments will be applied for the next 4 months, as long as the accounts remain open, active and eligible during that time.

  • What if I was assigned a temporary phone number when I activated with Virgin Plus?

    If you are transferring an existing phone number from your previous provider, you cannot submit the temporary Virgin Plus phone number you may be given during the transfer process. If you submit the temporary Virgin Plus phone number, or submit your existing phone number before completing the transfer, the referral credits will not be authorized.

    Before submitting your phone number, ensure you complete your phone number transfer, and submit your new (permanent) phone number into the referral system.

  • I was just referred to Virgin Plus, can I refer new Members?

    To be eligible to make referrals with the Virgin Plus Refer-A-Friend Program, you must have been an active Member on an eligible Value 2-year or BYOP mobile phone plan or internet plan with an account in good standing. Heads up: you cannot register for a Virgin Refer-a-Friend account at virginplus.ca/refer on the same day you activate with us.
