Virgin Festival montréal kicked off 'summertime'

24,000 screaming music fans... lived it up and partied!

MONTREAL (Quebec) June 22, 2009

Thanks Montréal – you know how to party!  Music artists and festival-lovers kicked off Montréal’s summer with a weekend of mind-blowing music and experiences at the first ever Virgin Festival Montréal. Parc Jean-Drapeau was transformed into a musical oasis with the hottest talent not only in town but also currently in the world with current Billboard chart-toppers Black Eyed Peas and legendary boy-band New Kids on the Block.

“Virgin Festival Montréal was a blast!” said Andrew Bridge, director of Virgin Festivals.  “With two jam packed days, thousands of screaming fans, two awesome stages and 20 amazing acts we threw a party we’ve been wanting to throw in Montréal for ages!”

Highlights included: Day 1 – Stereos drew crowds of fans at the autograph tent; A List celebs watching the festival from the Virgin Mobile VIP Bus; Lucky contest winners got the chance to go backstage to challenge Hedley to a game of Rock Band®; Canadian rockers Hedley’s flamboyant set; pop-punkers Simple Plan’s rocking set; and the Black Eyed Peas owned the stage with an awesome, awesome, awesome set that blew fans away.  Day 2 – fan favorites Jabbawockeez dance-stravaganza performance; festival-goers partying hard on the Barcardi Breezer dock; high demand for sexy pole dancing lessons and New Kids on the Block closed off the Festival with their hit song Hangin’ Tough – hot, hot, super hot!

“The first ever Virgin Festival in Montréal was fantastic!  We want to thank all the fans who turned out and partied hard; plus the all the bands for delivering two days of awesome sets – you all rocked!” continued Bridge.  “As well as partying you also helped raise a stack of funds for Virgin Unite Canada this weekend through ticket sales, meaning we can continue to work to create immediate, tangible change in the lives of people around the world who need it most, including right here in Canada.”
